Hanford School Learn About the Crown Jewels

Rufus Bird, who was Surveyor of the Queen’s Works of Art visited Hanford School to talk about the Crown Jewels and their role in coronation ceremonies.

Both pupils and parents were dazzled by the gemstones and hearing about the cultural and historical value of the Jewels.

The discussion about the St Edward’s Crown took the interest of many pupils and they are now looking forward to the Coronation on 6th May.

Rufus said: ‘The wonderful and extraordinary history of the stones is compelling and the Hanford girls asked lots of interesting and thoughtful questions.’
