Local pupils at independent day and boarding school in Bushey, St Margaret’s, have been getting into the festive spirit this week with their fantastic annual Christmas Fair.

The fair, which saw members of the local community come together with the school’s local pupils and their families, included a range of glittering stalls ran by pupils, alumnae and local businesses selling handmade jewellery, artisan candles and crystals as well as handcrafted accessories such as handbags and recycled homewares.

Other festive activities on offer included gingerbread men decorating, face painting and in the spirit of recycling, there was also a pre-loved Christmas jumper sale.

The St Margaret’s School choir also delivered a beautiful carol concert under its marquee, dressed in fairy lights and decorations, and performed many traditional favourites, such as Feliz Navidad and We Wish You a Merry Christmas, while a snow machine blasted a flurry of flakes into the air, creating quite the snowy spectacle.

Other pupils helped to keep everyone warm by making hot chocolates and with health and wellbeing being at the forefront of many people’s minds this season, the school’s Year 11 pupils also ran a stall selling uplifting ‘positivity boxes’ to their local shoppers.

As well as providing a wonderful gift-hunting opportunity for local residents, there was a Santa’s Grotto and a lovely Santa’s sleigh for the children to sit inside, and the school was thrilled to welcome two gorgeous reindeer onto its campus, ‘Sven’ the reindeer was particularly popular with the younger children.

Lara Pechard, Head at St Margaret’s School commented: ‘Our annual Christmas Fair is always a highlight for the staff and children. This year we celebrated the season with a range of really thoughtful gift ideas as well as a stunning performance of traditional Christmas carols. We are all feeling the festive spirit right now and we would like to wish our local community and all of our staff, pupils and their families a wonderful Christmas.’
