Head Teacher’s Philosophy
The Oratory is unique. Founded by a great man, Blessed John Henry Newman, its original aim was to educate Christian gentlemen who would lead English society. Academic training ran alongside personal development so that body, mind and soul were nourished and strengthened. The school motto of ‘Cor ad cor loquitur’ (heart speaking to heart) underlines this.
The Oratory School is an HMC Catholic independent boarding and Day School for boys aged 11-18 years. It is a friendly, purposeful community dedicated to the growth of the individual within society. We believe that each boy should develop in his own individuality, fulfilling his own potential as a confident and integrated young man. The school is situated in acres of beautiful English countryside with easy access to both motorways and airports including Heathrow and Gatwick.
