Games and the Arts
With a broad, balanced sports programme, tailored to the individual, we prepare children for lifelong involvement in sport and physical activity, promoting confidence, health and wellbeing. Whether through art, music or drama, our arts instructors enable students to enjoy creative freedom.
We see the pastoral care and needs of our children as central to their success and personal development. There are four main areas of pastoral care that are provided to every pupil: Emotional, Social, Intellectual and Physical. Staff, both day and boarding, work together to ensure that every child’s individual needs are met.
We award academic, art, music and sports scholarships each year for entry into Years 6-8.
Head Teacher’s Philosophy
The Millfield Prep School experience is exceptional, providing all children who attend with an array of once-in-a-lifetime opportunities. Pastoral care and nurturing are high on the agenda and children are encouraged to be kind, considerate and mindful of others. When happy, supported children feel confident they discover their brilliance, and the sky’s the limit!
- We provide world-class resources, opportunities and teaching for children to discover their brilliance and to achieve their full potential.
- From the moment they arrive, we help children to develop their character, resilience, relationships, abilities, skills and knowledge.
- Sports facilities include 25m swimming pool, golf course and equestrian centre.
- Purpose-built music department with recital hall and newly refurbished assembly hall/theatre.
- High levels of individual attention are central to achieving our aims. Class sizes rarely exceed 16 and are often less.
