The Curriculum

Varied and balanced curriculum. Every child has an understanding of where they are in their learning and what they need to do to progress. Independent, autonomous learning is encouraged and a love of learning is instilled.

Games & The Arts

Excellent sports facilities and a programme designed to encourage all to enjoy physical exercise. We have a strong musical tradition and music is significant in the academic, social and spiritual life of the school. The new visual arts centre offers an unrivalled range of facilities for children across the spectrum of visual arts expression. Its location within the heart of the school symbolises the importance placed on visual and performing arts.

Pastoral Care

Our principal purpose is quite straightforward. It is simply that we want every child to enjoy their time at school; to feel valued as individuals, in an environment where their talents can prosper to the benefit of the community. Each child has a form teacher or tutor who is the main link between home and school.

Head’s Philosophy

Amesbury offers a unique and distinctive ethos: academically rigorous but relaxed and good humoured; competitive yet civilised; self-confident but lacking arrogance. We aim for an Amesburian to be an individual within a system, rather than a clone because of it.

Outstanding Characteristics

Only co-educational prep school in Hindhead/Haslemere.

Gateway to a range of senior schools at both 11+ and 13+.

Family school, siblings study together.

None selective entry.

No commitments at weekends. Prep completed at school.

No curriculum hierarchy. Children are able to find a language in which they are articulate, which builds confidence.
