It is becoming increasingly recognised across the globe that ‘academic’ learning is not the only ‘type’ of learning required for the next generation to thrive.

Equally as important is for children to learn about themselves (their strengths, weaknesses, likes, dislikes, personality and more) and the world around them (from the natural environment to the ever-expanding digital realm). Learning that spans all three – an academic, individualised and truly relevant education – will springboard pupils to personally thrive in an ever-changing world.

Eaton Square Prep School expertly champions this vital ‘all-round’ education. Read on to find out how…

Academic learning

Eaton Square pupils consistently achieve impressive 11+ results, without a pressurised ‘hot-house’ environment. Teaching staff firmly believe that intense testing and rigorous homework schedules should not rob pupils of their childhood. This approach evidently works: scholarships and offers from the UK’s leading senior schools abound. Eaton Square pupils gain places at the likes of Westminster, Dulwich, JAGS, Alleyn’s, City of London, Latymer Upper, Eton, Harrow, Putney High and Cheltenham Ladies College.

STEAM is a particular strength of Eaton Squareone further boosted by Dr Maria Hafalla’s recent appointment as the new Deputy Head (Academic). An inspirational educator, Dr Hafalla’s immense career in science education – taking her from the USA National Science Foundation to European Commission Marie Curie fellowship schemes – will be of immense benefit to the School’s young learners.

Learning about yourself

An Eaton Square education is rooted in unlocking and fulfilling individual potential. Emotional wellbeing, a knowledge of one’s own unique strengths and weaknesses and an ability to communicate confidently all contribute to this

With its own in-house wellbeing programme (‘The Listening Space’), wellbeing across the entire School community is high, with pastoral support rated ‘Excellent’ in all ISI inspections.

Pupils explore individual interests through a vast range of clubs (such as Judo, Cookery, Debating, Gardening, Ballet, Swimming, Mandarin and Elite Chess). Communication skills are nurtured from an early age. Impressively, Eaton Square is an accredited TEDx centre, enabling pupils to rehearse, audition and perform their very own TEDxTalks to a global platform – an invaluable opportunity to articulate themselves at a world-class level. The School’s Debating Team competes at and visits the likes of Harrow, Blenheim Palace, The Oratory and Houses of Parliament, enabling a near professional-level of public speaking training.

Learning about the world

Eaton Square pupils are primed to flourish in the twenty-first century, while still maintaining traditional British values.

An official ‘Eco School’ with top Green Flag status, pupils enthusiastically embrace activities such as recycling competitions, building bug hotels and fundraising for environmental causes. Digital skills are instilled through use of fun ‘Bee-Bots’ (floor robots), Surface Go devices and timetabled Computing lessons.

The curriculum expertly blends screen-free and tech-enriched learning.

Eaton Square’s sense of global responsibility is clear: so much so that the School was even named in the Top 3 ISA Schools for its commitment to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
