Danes Hill Donates Gifts to Vulnerable Children

Christmas Appeal gifts

School pupils in Oxshott have been saving their pocket money to buy gifts for vulnerable children this Christmas. They have been supporting the Oasis Children’s Charity on their Christmas Appeal to ensure every child in the local area has a gift to unwrap on Christmas Day.

The playground at Danes Hill School in Oxshott, Surrey was filled with an abundance of brightly wrapped gifts last Friday. Pupils aged 3 to 13 and their families had hit the shops early this year to buy Christmas gifts for vulnerable children in the local area who are being supported by Oasis Children’s Charity. Developing young people who have both a sense of understanding and compassion for others is central part of Danes Hill’s education and ethos.

Rob Andrews, Acting Head at Danes Hill School said, ‘Guiding our pupils to become thoughtful citizens is at the heart of what we do. We are overwhelmed by the generosity shown by all of the Danes Hill families.’

Oasis Children’s Charity is based in Cobham and provides support to families across Elmbridge. It was founded in 1996 by Caroline Edwards, who began her career in safeguarding children. They believe every child has a right to security, love and a stable environment.

Their aim is to keep vulnerable children out of the social care system and with their own families. This Christmas they aim to provide around 1,000 presents to families, ensuring each child receives a new gift to open. They often try to incorporate pyjamas, hats, gloves and scarves as well as a toy.

Like many charities, Oasis Children’s Charity continues to operate thanks to the help and support they receive from grant funding, individual donors and local business, like Danes Hill School.

Caroline Edwards from Oasis Children’s Charity said, ‘Thank you to all the Danes Hill families who have so generously donated these gifts to vulnerable children in our community. It is so inspiring to see children support each other in such a kind, considerate and compassionate way. Thank you so much for helping us make this Christmas so special.’
