Alexander Armstrong and Grimsdell’s Headmistress, Kate Simon

Grimsdell Mill Hill Pre Prep recently had one of the most exciting Friday mornings ever! Alexander Armstrong, of ‘Pointless’ fame, visited the school on Friday 2nd October along with the team from Classic FM.

They have been performing 24 concerts in 24 hours to raise money for ‘Global Make some Noise’.

Grimsdell was selected as the only school on the quest, with venues such as St Paul’s Cathedral and Wembley on the list!

Year 2 children were treated to a stunning piece performed by Alexander himself, wearing a black Tuxedo and having no sleep for the last 20 hours.

Then Year 2 performed their own song ‘I’d like to teach the world to sing’ which they did with great musicality and feeling. The bell of awesomeness was rung three times by the pianist!

Needless to say, the children and adults loved the experience and the team at Classic FM said this had been their favourite venue so far. Needless to say, Chef Maggie gave them a lot of coffee and cake to help them on their way and Mrs Webb, PA to the Head and School Administrator, made sure Alexander Armstrong signed one of the school’s magazines! Last but not least they gave him a Toffee Bear as a memento of his visit.

He was an absolutely charming gentleman, full of warmth and lovely with all the children. The school thanks Mrs Dobson (Charities and Community Links Coordinator) and Miss Gale (Head of Music – Maternity Cover) for making this happen!
