The Eco Committee at Bede Prep organise a clean up of Eastbourne Beach as part of Earth Day.

On Tuesday 20 April, children from Bede’s Prep School in Eastbourne took advantage of the sunny weather and walked to their local beach for a litter pick. The group is part of the School’s newly-formed Eco Committee, a pupil-led initiative formed in partnership with Eco Schools.

The committee is currently working together to achieve Green Flag Status through a range of eco-friendly initiatives, including caring for their local area with beach and park cleans.

Miss Miriam McDonell, Year 4 Teacher and Eco Committee Leader at Bede’s Prep, comments, “It is wonderful to see our pupils so engaged with environmental issues and proactively making a difference for the School and their local community with such enthusiasm.”

“The group is comprised of pupils from Reception to Year 8, and to see them so well work together for this vital cause is truly fantastic. We look forward to organising more beach cleans and other eco-friendly initiatives throughout the school year.”
